Now Im scared to tears about what religion I am and what to do. I was raised jewish like I went to a private jewish school for two years(2nd-4th grade) and I am really scared about what to do? Like Im scared to death now, because it feels like if i dont practice what religion my mother is born with(genetically, she didnt practice but isnt she chritian cuz here grandmother was?) . So am I really christian? and should I start practicing it? Cuz i dont think im ready cuz like i said, I was raised as a Jew and jewish belief and the jewish belief dont believe in jesus, etc? What Should I do? Should I practice chrisitianity and am I really chrisitian? Or should I stay with The jewish religion? Because I want to practice the religion Im genetically born with? Someone help me, Im scared to death now and I feel like if I dont practice the right religion I’ll go to hell?!! You are still a sinner. Your sins must be paid for. All the good deeds in the world done by you won’t pay for even ONE of your sins.

Jesus is the ONLY acceptable sacrifice for your sins. Jesus has already paid for all your sins past, present, and future, but you must believe the truth about Jesus to be forgiven completely and saved.

Either Jesus pays for your sins, or you pay for your sins in eternal torment in hell. That is the choice before you.

So simply BELIEVE the truth about Jesus now, and you will NEVER be sent to hell! It really is that simple!

The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you are saved, no matter what!

Please pray now: “Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!” You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die. :)

There is no fiery hell. Hell is just the grave. The Bible makes it clear that when you die you know nothing and are not tormented. There is a right religion, but it is not the two you mention. Go to.

Everything in the world of form is created from God’s substance. Therefore, every living soul is a son or daughter of God. You have the free will and the creative potential to build your individuality upon the foundation laid by your spiritual parents.

Therefore, life can be seen as a process through which your soul is constantly building its sense of identity. In an overall sense, you are meant to keep building your sense of identity until you reach a point where you realize that you are an individualization of God and that you have the full creative powers of God himself/herself.

The carnal mind has a tendency to create idols. Therefore, people were quick to turn sons of Gods at different times in our history (Jesus Christ, Mohammad, Buddha, Krishna) into an idol and to start believing that the statement that I was the only son of God was universally true. Let me make it very clear that every living soul is, in reality, a son or daughter of God. If the soul does not identify itself as a son or daughter of God, then that soul cannot express the fullness of its divine potential. The soul has the potential to act as a son or daughter of God, but that potential is not realized.

God as a universe and a creator has chosen different SONS at different points of time to shower light into the people and enlighten the human beings – their mind, body and soul. All religions lead to GOD. Belief in God, the teachings of God as inspired by Jewish, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddist teachings are important. People chose their path of God through the different teachings. The creator of the universe, the purpose, the significance of GOD is the final goal.

Religions by their very nature are often divisive and exclusionary because the fear of another religion can be even greater than the fear of death. When a religion claims its god to be the only true one, its believers may endeavor to eliminate a competing one by trying to convert, condemn, or kill its devotees…

Since Truth transcends concepts, Truth cannot be conceptualized. Nonduality as a teaching contains many concepts, but all of them are meant to be pointers to Truth that can only be verified by direct experience. In addition to the fact that spiritual beliefs cannot be true, no mere conceptual system can ever satisfy the yearning for wholeness which is the compulsion behind all spiritual seeking. Only direct seeing can satisfy this, and in the end, only direct seeing can lead to the realization that the individual does not exist.

In strict terms, you are “not Jewish” because they base it on your mother’s religion, not your father’s. However, if you were raised Jewish and taught that faith, I’m sure the rabbi would be glad to see you, even if you aren’t bar mitzvah.

You might visit some Christian churches or youth groups in your area to see if you are interested in that, but otherwise, if Judaism is where your heart is, start there.

The bible says that no one can come to the Father God except through Jesus. It sounds like you do have Jewish blood, but Jewish is not just a religion, it’s a culture.

Messianic Jews are jewish people that believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God. The culture and lifestyle is very Jewish-based, but they believe in the power, love, and salvation of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the answer. He loves you, and it’s not a coincidence that you came here . I pray that you receive him as your Lord and savior!

    Find a Messianic Jewish temple!
    God bless you!

Whether you are Jewish or Christian depends on what you believe, not what your grandparents believed. You can be whichever you want. It is not hereditary. Judaism is also a cultural thing, an ethnic heritage, and you can have that heritage and be proud of it even though you don’t necessarily believe in Judaism.

So relax. Do some thinking about what you really believe, and believe that. Nobody can really tell you what you should believe, though some people think that’s what it is all about, being told what you should believe. I think you should read and study different religions, and consider what they all think before making up your mind.

There is wisdom in -all- religions, but none of them have that one whole truth. In a way they are all like the story of the six blind men and the elephant, all seeing a part and thinking they see the whole. If they would listen to each other, respect each other’s views more, they would get closer to the whole truth.

When I realized this, I learned that I don’t really ‘belong’ to any religion. I read things from all over, and I pick up on the ideas that seem reasonable and believable to me. In the end I don’t believe much can be known for sure, so I call myself agnostic. But I have respect for all traditions and I think I’ve learned a little bit from all of them.

If you want to talk more about it, I’d be more than happy to. Send me a message through Yahoo Answers and I’ll give you my e-mail address.

(BTW, notice how many answerers here are telling you you must believe what THEY believe?)

This is what mainstream religion does to people. You are scared shltless that you are going to hell if you don’t follow the right religion. The only way you will ever be happy is finding the religion that fits YOU, not vice-versa. If you believe in the Jewish faith, then go with it. If Russian Orthodoxy fulfills you, then do it. Or if Buddhism speaks to you, be a Buddhist. You are an individual. Use your head, think of what you truly believe in and find the religion that fits it. Your genetics don’t matter one whit.

    Peacefully salute
firstly yes it’s a must to be in one of the three religions.
    Jew,
    Christian,
    Moslim.
What else is not a religion or be God’s enemy.

So search by calm way that you will not return from what you will start.
Read more about religion & go to Arab lands reading more about three religions book cause the three Holy books out Arab nations distort.
    My religion is Islam.
I learned the truth from young
so every religion contains suspicion except Islam, I’m so fair & all by logic.
so that’s some of what’s illogical not all.
-Christians say that ‘ jesus is the God or the son God or God embodied in.
-Jews say that ‘ Moses is the God or the son God & religion contains a story that prophet Dawood fight God & prophet Dawood defeated God’
Obviously the shame over who can say that all.

But in Islam more than one reason with no fault that can make you more calm.
& the first of ‘That Christians & Jews at past ask the prophet Mohammad about some of their problems & he answer them with most convincing answers’
So they can solve from their books.
Believe try to do your best to start your way with no suspect.

    Thanks

You first need to know that God loves you very much and He knows that you are a victim of spiritual neglect. Not only do you need to believe in God but you also must know that Jesus is His son who died on the cross for your sins, and that he arose again on the third day. Confess to Jesus that you are a sinner and ask for His forgiveness and He will.

Invite Him into your heart and life and you will become a born again Christian. This is your obtaining your Salvation through Jesus. That is the only way for a person to enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Romans 10:9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

John 3:3Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

This applies to everyone including Jews too. God bless you.

If your mother is Jewish and you were raised in the Jewish tradition albeit unorthodox then practice Judaism. Religion is a doctrine one adheres to as a guiding light. Scriptures make sense at times when life does not. When you feel you can stand alone then do so. You will not go to hell if you are an honest and good person. There are many thoroughly nasty vicious persons destined for hell, you are not one of them, cease worrying and start being happy and proud of who you are. God Bless.

I think you should go talk to both a Jewish rabbi and a Christian minister. I’m christian so of course I believe that Christ is the only way to heaven but since you’re so confused, it might be helpful to do research on both faiths and decide which one is for you.

Really, your genetics have nothing to do with what religion you should follow. There are plenty of people with Jewish genetics who do not follow the religion Judaism. God looks at your heart, at your soul, not at what race you were born into.

Pray and ask God to show you truth and I hope you find the right path. Your genetics aren’t going to get you into heaven.

I am sorry but just because your mom or dad is of a certain type of faith it doesn’t mean that you are of the same faith. We are all free moral agents in control of our own decisions. You are not Christian because your Grandma was, nor are you obligated to Judaism because of your father.

Christianity is a personally relation ship with God and the Choice is yours. Same goes for Judaism.

That fact is you have to choose on your own. May God guide you with your decision.

  27. Nathaniel Says:

First of all I half wonder if this post is even for REAL, secondly, you were born a child of god – the same as the rest of us. What religion you choose to follow should be about who you know and have come to know as your personal GOD not who’s blood line you are born into.
If you were raised jewish then that would apparently be what you KNOW.

If your mother is not a practicing Christian then I doubt Christianity holds much interest for you since you were raised having no belief whatsoever in Jesus Christ as your Personal Savior. I would advise you to not take this so enormously life altering because it really isn’t!
Turn to the Lord that you know and love – He is my GOd and your God and your personal relationship with HIM should be the same whether you are Jewish or Christian. Ask Him for direction in a possibly puzzling or confusing time in your life. Looking into Christianity would be an interesting possibly enlightening experience to say the least. BUT I don’t see that you OWE anyone a huge religious change right now. As a Christian myself, I happen to believe that as in the time of Moses and Abraham – the Jewish people are STILL God’s chosen people – so it will all come out OK in the end.

Read the New testement and read about what Jesus has done
and then see if you can believe what he did for man kind by
dying in our place so that we can repent and be forgiven, then
you will know if you can be a Christian.

  29. Aiden Says:

    Gavin

No one can tell you what you are. You are Jewish if you believe the Jewish beliefs you were taught or you are Christian if you believe that Jesus Christ is your savior. I honestly believe that practicing the religion you were genetically born with is not a good reason to choose a religion, choose one that matches what you believe. You will not go to hell if you believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and is your savior. Jesus says in John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life no one comes to the father except through me.”

  30. Michael Says:

    Chase

Christianity is not passed on the way Judaism is. You are a Christian when you believe in and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. You should not stick with Judaism because it became lost and is not complete! Christianity is the true religion!

Jesus Christ suffered the cross and a sacrifice for our sins, rose again on the 3rd day and ascended to heaven to be at the right hand of the father! Our salvation is through Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ only. When you accept Jesus Christ you can have a relationship with the father and eternal life!

Be careful! Your question is going to have a lot of people trying to force their beliefs on you. I would suggest that you don’t use Yahoo Answers as your way to resolve this. The best thing to do (as you were raised Jewish) is to talk to your Spiritual Leader at Temple for advice. He should be able to offer some guidance.

I think you’ved also raised the interesting question of which religion is ‘the one true religion’? Which of course no-one knows. Though all people of fervent belief in their religion will tell you that they are right and the others are wrong. This is something that no-one can resolve.

However I would say to you, that I think too many people see God as someone who punishes them if they get things wrong. That is a rather limited view of what mankind’s relationship with God should be. And we create that limit in our modern psychologies.

I would suggest that you try and see God as your friend who understands you better than you understand yourself, and maybe then you’ll see that it doesn’t really matter which religion you are practising, but really your actions and your way of life and what’s in your heart.

  32. Elijah Says:

    Evelyn

Wow. Your world must have been shaken quite a bit, huh?

I think that the person to speak to should be a rabbi or perhaps your dad, who would know about both the spiritual and cultural aspects of being Jewish.

Based on my understanding, which is very limited, a person can be a Jew by birth (which I believe is the one your mom referred to), or by religious choice.

That is, you may be jewish because you were born Jewish, or you may be jewish because you are a practicing Jew by religion.

Either way, I think your best course of action would be to talk to someone who would have significant knowledge of Judaism.

However, since people can convert to Judaism, I would think you’re still Jewish, and may continue to practice it.

I hope things work out for you.

Plase feel free to email me if you have any other questions.

    Hope I helped.
    God bless you.

I hope this helps. All my life my Jewish ancestry was hidden from me. I was raised as a Methodist Christian, though we hardly ever went to church. As I got older, I began to pray and seek God for myself, and was led by God to keep the Shabbat. This caused much cntroversy and antagonism from many in my family. I buckled under pressure and joined a Pentecostal Church. Attended there for ten years, but things still seems wrong to me spiritually. In the Pentecostal I was told that the Old Testament was for history only and not valid for Christians. I was also told that all things Jewish were to be considered obsolete, and for the Jews only. Again I felt this overwheming sense of wrong with that opinion. So I went deep into prayer and study, asking for the Lord to give me His opinion on these issues. He did. It’s all in the Bible. First of all God said that whoever cursed Abraham’s seed He would curse (Genesis 12:3). Also, Jesus was born of the Jews, came to the Jewish nation, and the first disciples were Jews. So Where did the name Christian and the belief that Jesus started a new religion come from? The name Christian was a derrogatory term given to the followers of Christ. It wasn’t even around until the mockers at Antioch began to use it (Acts 11:26). Furthermore the Bible also states that anyone who believes in Jesus and gives their heart to Him, becomes a Jew by adoption, graffed or grafted into the Jewish root (Read all of Romans 11). Jesus Himself said that He had sheep to gather “not of this fold” not of Jewish ancestry, and that there would be one fold and one shepherd (John 10:16). So the answer to your question is this: There is not supposed to be any separation between the so-called Jewish and Christian faiths. They are one. Sadly, the Jews reject Christ becoming Anti-Christ, and the Christians reject their Jewish roots, becoming Anti-Semitic. Two sides of the same erroneous coin.

I am a Sephardic, Messianic Jewess. I keep the Shabbat, and the feasts, love Yeshua/Jesus as no other, and work to bring peace and fellowship between the two sides of God’s family. Shalom.

believe in GOD firstly read alot in the three religions:

    JEWISH , CHRISTIANS and ISLAMIC…

ask the expertise or the scientists in each religion “only the trustful people in each one”
it will take time and effort but GOD will show you the right way if you
are honest and have the intention to go to heaven , believe me there is
only one way to GOD … be honest with GOD and i’ll pray to you find
    the straght way.
